Namadgi Acrylic Painting

This set of paintings was all about testing out acrylic paint on board. I was branching out from my usual oil painting on canvas.

I enjoyed being able to use pen and ink as well, and there would be great potential to use collage or other mixed media with the acrylic and board. The board, which were braced birch plywood, provided a very flat, stable base.

I also enjoyed the very crisp, clear colour of the acrylic paint.

However, I did miss the way oil paint handles, the colour mixing and I feel oil paint has more potential for subtle atmospheric effects. Acrylic was good for depicting a bright sunny day, but I was not converted from being an oil painter.
